Alex Becker or Cooper?
You know who Alex Becker is.
You’ve probably seen his ads or YouTube videos, right?
If not, just picture if the actor Bradley Cooper had a skinnier, cockier younger brother…
Who was a complete douchebag.
Kidding.
Here’s the deal:
When I first wrote this article a few years ago, Becker was all over YouTube promoting how to make money online with his Ferrari in the background.
Yep, he was that guy.
But to be fair, times have changed and so has Alex.
He’s evolved into a very smart and successful SaaS entrepreneur — replacing the hypey crap above with much more substance these days.
For example, check out his epic rant on why 98% of people fail at business:
(Do yourself a favor and watch the entire 22-minute video above. If you understand his point about focus, you will crush the online bid’niz game.)
Like or hate him, one thing’s for sure:
Alex Becker knows how to sell.
But he’s no longer in the business of selling to those who wish they could quit their 9-to-5, move to Thailand, and run an EZ-money bid’niz from the beach.
So if you’re still having that delusion, Becker ain’t your guy.
If you’re someone who spends a sh*tload of cash on Facebook or Google ads… that’s another story and you’ll wanna listen up.
Because Alex’s company, HYROS, has quickly become one of the most well-respected ad tracking platforms on the market.
In any case, you’ve probably got the fire of entrepreneurship in your blood.
And you sure as hell don’t wanna work for someone else for the next 20, 30, 40 years in hopes of retiring with a negative net worth to show for it.
Right?
So, back to Becker.
What’s up with this guy?
Is he legit? Or fulla sh*t?
Since I wanted to know for sure myself, I did some diggin’ for you.
Aaaaand here’s what I found out…
Who Is Alex Becker?
Alex Becker is a successful online entrepreneur who is known for his popular YouTube videos, software company, as well as his best-selling book “The Ten Pillars of Wealth”.
Nowadays, Alex is mainly focused on growing his SaaS (aka “Software as a Service”) business HYROS.
The question is:
Can you trust him, or would you be dumber than a sack of Skittles to even try?
Things that make you go hmmmm…
Brief History of Becker
Alex Becker’s story is an interesting one — and part of his pitch.
But let’s rewind the clock and talk about where Mr. Becker started his entrepreneurial journey:
SEO.
In case you’re a complete noob to this stuff, SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization.
It’s just a fancy way of saying how to get websites ranked high in search engines like Google and Bing.
In other words, you know all those websites you see on the first page of Google?
They didn’t get there by accident or a coin toss, fella.
Depending on how competitive the niche is — dozens, hundreds, or even MILLIONS of other websites are all battling to get on page one.
Why?
Cuz very few peeps make it past page one when they’re searching for anything in Google.
With the only exception being porn.
Kidding.
(Not kidding.)
That’s why people who do SEO get paid to rank websites on page one of Google (or as high as possible).
And that’s what Alex Becker started doing back in the early days.
He used his newly found SEO knowledge to rank his blog called Source Wave (now closed), which he used to sell SEO services and software, or teach people how to do SEO themselves.
Source Wave was eventually rebranded as Konker and even though Becker sold it in 2019, it’s still a marketplace for all things SEO.
It’s kinda like Fiverr but specifically for SEO services (not sure if they’re any good, so buyer beware).
Alex Becker finally got into the email marketing space by creating a software platform called Market Hero (now known as ad-tracking giant HYROS).
He also started dropshipping products — which allows you to sell and ship products using third-parties so you don’t have to stock any inventory.
As I mentioned earlier, Becker has also learned the art of selling and I gotta admit the guy does it extremely well.
These days, his main strength is helping other people sell successfully by running his ad tracking company HYROS.
Whether you think he’s inspiring or just annoying, Alex Becker is undoubtedly a successful entrepreneur and knows his sh*t when it comes to digital marketing.
He’s a millionaire many times over and by his early 30’s, has accomplished more than most online marketers will ever do in their lifetime.
But now let’s take a look under the hood and see exactly what he’s offering YOU.
What Does Alex Becker Sell?
First off, lemme make it crystal clear that I am in NO WAY affiliated with Becker or any of his products.
(I do my own thing. And it’s the best thing since the g-string.)
So these are just my opinions based on hours of boring-ass research, got it?
Source Wave University
This is (or was) Becker’s SEO course.
He created it back in 2015 with the help of Stephen Floyd and Gregory Ortiz — both of whom have a ton of SEO experience.
According to the SWU website:
Source University is a never ending monthly SEO education and community.
Full SEO Training Archive — When you join you get immediate access to our entire SEO training archive that is updating every month on a never ending schedule.
Live Help Webinars and Community — 3 times month we answer all your questions live, critique your sites to make sure you are applying our training correctly.
The course basically teaches you how to start your own freelance SEO business by helping business owners rank their websites.
In the past, Source Wave University sold anywhere from $47-$67 a month, with a 10 day free trial period.
Becker claims to have helped a “conga line” of students land SEO clients in the $3000-$6000 per month range ($100-$200 per day).
Which is pretty high for SEO deals, but not impossible.
Speaking of which…
Hero Sales Academy
Hero Sales Academy (aka HSA) is yet another program that Alex Becker promotes that is exclusively focused on teaching you how to sell online.
Instead of explaining HSA to you myself, I found this guy below who does an excellent job of breaking it all down:
To summarize, the Hero Academy comes with:
- Advanced Sales Video Copywriting
- Proven Landing Pages and Funnel Design
- 4-8x ROI Advertising Funnels
- Mindsets of 7 and 8 Figure Entrepreneurs
- Creating Products That Sell Like Wildfire
- Sales Presentations and Webinar Conversions
It also comes with a 30 day trial for $1, after which you’ll pay $47/mo.
But you also get a 90 day no-questions-asked money back guarantee if you wanna refund at any time.
Seems like a pretty good deal if you’re just starting out and want a crash course in online marketing and sales.
H-COM 2020
If Alex Becker’s products were a buffet, H-Com 2020 would be the main course.
Becker partnered up with experienced Shopify gurus Devin Zander and Matt Schmitt to create a 10-week program designed to teach you the “start-to-finish” details on how to launch your own dropshipping business using Shopify.
According the the H-Com official website:
The H-Com (Hero E-Commerce) Program is a 10 week online program with the sole goal of creating a Shopify store and getting it profitable in as short of time as possible with step by step proven methods taught by E-Commerce experts making at least $500,000 a MONTH in revenue.
Upon purchase you will get immediate access to the entire program which begin by showing you in a step by step format to pick your first products without hard costs, build a store, and use super cheap Facebook advertising to get customers.
If you’re new to dropshipping, it basically allows you to partner up with a company to manufacture, package, and deliver a product to your customer.
So, all you gotta do is advertise (e.g. FB ads), collect the cash, and someone else will send out the product for you.
Sounds pretty good, right?
Well, yes and no.
You can absolutely crush it with dropshipping if:
- You know what you’re doing.
OR - Your name happens to be Frank the Tank:
The key word being IF.
Like any online business, the challenge is mastering all the steps to becoming a dropshipping expert:
- Learning how to use the Shopify platform
- Setting up and designing your store
- Learning how to use Shopify apps
- Choosing a niche and finding products to import
- Learning how to run, test, and optimize Facebook ad campaigns
- Coming up with compelling offers for maximum conversions
- Learning how to differentiate yourself from your competition, etc.
And that’s what the H-Com 2020 course is all about: teaching you exactly what you need to know in the dropshipping game.
Now, I get it.
It’s easy to be skeptical about guys sellin’ a course who are allegedly crushing it themselves.
But you could say the same thing about anyone who decides to profit from their area of expertise.
Like Tony “Banana Hands” Robbins and self-development.
Or Grant “Uncle G” Cardone and sales.
In other words, don’t let your skepticism blind you from learning new skills that could potentially change your life.
Been there. Done that. Stayed broke.
That said, dropshipping has enough downsides to make you think twice about pulling the trigger.
For example, most dropshipped products are sold on dozens of other websites, hundreds even.
You can get around this by having something custom-manufactured.
But minimum orders for custom-manufactured products usually require 500 to 1000 units.
If your custom product sells, you could make a fortune.
If not, you could end up trying to sell the other 499 prototypes at your next garage sale.
Plus, if your dropshipping company makes a mistake, guess who your customer will be calling to bitch about it?
That’s right.
Welcome to customer service hell.
Don’t get me wrong.
Plenty of entrepreneurs have been successful with dropshipping.
But a lot of morons go broke assuming their dropshipping company is a magical fairy that will run half their business for them.
Don’t be one of them.
If you go this route, be smart by choosing a good company and learning as much as you can about the dropshipping business.
Don’t get it twisted: I’m not saying you should buy H-Com 2020.
But investing in a proven business model sure beats the crap outta trying to learn all this stuff yourself.
Believe me, the DIY route is a Lord-of-The-Rings scale of trial and error that’d make even Gandalf hurl his laptop into oncoming traffic.
As of this writing, you can get your hands on H-Com for one payment of $1997, or five payments of $597 ($2985).
I’ve also seen H-Com previously advertised for one payment of $2497, or three payments of $997 ($2991).
It depends on what kind of deal Becker is running right now.
But if you’re scared off by the price tag, starting a dropshipping business prob’ly ain’t for you, Pal.
Over the years, I’ve personally spent ten times that much on educational products trying to get my skills up. And I’m still half-retarded.
So instead of sweating the investment, you should be asking yourself if the damn product does what it’s supposed to?
Cuz if it DOES, you should make it back (plus a lot more) in a reasonable amount of time, anyway.
In this case, if you’re looking for a proven system on how to start a successful dropshipping business, you could do a lot worse than H-Com 2020.
But make up your own mind.
HYROS Review
HYROS (formerly known as Market Hero) is Alex Becker’s SaaS company where he spends most of his time.
According the HYROS website:
At HYROS we build our business by delivering superior results, not by trashing our competitors. Simply put, HYROS is unlike any other tracking system on the market and we take completely different approaches to tracking. It would be like comparing a helicopter to a pick up truck.
Here’s a video of Alex explaining — in typical Becker-style — how HYROS works:
HYROS main features:
- Designed for high-level businesses who spend more than 5-figures per month on online advertising.
- Can save online marketers 20-30% on ad spend without negatively affecting sales.
- Able to “train” Facebook and Google AIs to find online customers more affordably.
- Provides long-term customer value analytics so you can see your customer’s true lifetime value.
- Nice visual design and user friendly dashboard.
In short, HYROS allows you to easily track ALL your online ads in one dashboard with extreme levels of accuracy.
In other words:
The software allows you to plug into every layer of your marketing funnel and correctly understand which platforms and ads are performing the best.
“Yeah but Facebook and Google already track my ad performance.”
True but how accurately?
You’d be surprised to find out how much ad data slips through their cracks.
Which explains why digital heavy hitters like Dean Graziosi (Tony Robbin’s biz partner), Tom Bilyeu’s ImpactTheory.com, Kinobody, ClickFunnels, Billy Gene, Dan Henry, etc. are all HYROS users.
Think of it this way:
HYROS is basically like taking Facebook and Google’s own ad tracking platforms and putting them on steroids.
Here’s the best HYROS explanation I could find on YouTube (from an actual user):
Additionally, I found some good reviews about the software on Reddit.
Bottom line:
If you’re a digital marketer spending $10k or more on ads per month, you should prob’ly do yourself a favor and look into HYROS.
I hear the pricing is north of $5k (one-time) so worst-case scenario, they offer a 90-day “any reason you want” refund guarantee if you don’t like it.
And frankly, if you’re not willing to invest in things that can really move the needle in your business — you literally have no shot at reaching your entrepreneurial potential.
Cheap asses always get cheap ass results.
Here’s the difference between cheap and poor:
Cheap is a nickel-and-dime mindset that can last a lifetime.
Poor is only temporary if you’re willing to invest in yourself or your business.
And like my guy Grant Cardone says:
Don’t go where it’s cheap. Go where you can make money.
This former-cheap-ass-mofo couldn’t agree more.
(You can learn more about HYROS here.)
The 10 Pillars of Wealth
This is Becker’s best-selling book he wrote back in 2016.
And I have to give him props because after being a full-time entrepreneur for several years myself, I completely agree with all ten of his pillars below:
1. Reject “Getting Rich Slowly”
• Entrepreneurship is actually LESS risky than working for someone else.
2. Separate Your Time from Your Money
• Build automated systems that allow for a passive income business.
3. Accepting that You Must Be Better than Everyone Else
• You must believe that you are great to become great.
4. Every Little F*cking Thing is Your Fault
• Accept responsibility for everything in your life and business.
5. Adopting an Abundance Mindset
• You have an unlimited amount of actions & resources available.
6. Forgetting “What If” and Focusing on “What Is”
• Improve your weak points and only focus on where you want to go.
7. Mapping Out Actions that Achieve Big Goals
• Define and break down your Big Goal into smaller specific steps.
8. Focusing Solely on What Gets You Paid
• Identify and only spend your time on Income Producing Activities.
9. People Give Money to People That Get People
• You must understand people and learn sales & marketing.
10. Surround Yourself with Successful People
• Get around others who are obsessed with success and working hard.
Look, I know you might be rollin’ your eyes at some of those points.
Wasn’t too long ago that I’d have done the same.
Unfortunately, most of these “pillars” are so cliché these days, they’ve turned into cheap f*ckin quotes on Instagram.
But that doesn’t make them any less true.
And since Becker’s a multimillionaire and chances are you’re not, it’s safe to say he might know what the hell he’s talking about here.
At the very least, do yourself a favor and take a look at the animated summary below and decide for yourself:
Alex Becker: Quick Summary
Online bid’niz gurus like Alex Becker, Tai Lopez, and Sam Ovens are a dime a dozen.
So are wantrepreneurs and dreamers.
Meaning they like the idea of starting their own business, but they lack the nutsack to make the inevitable sacrifices of money, time, and energy.
Alex Becker is not one of those people.
He has multiple successful businesses under his belt and his entrepreneurial advice (from 2019 until now) is on point:
(He kinda goes off the rails at the end, but the first 14 minutes are next level.)
As far as his company goes, HYROS is a legit ad tracking company that has many marketers singing its praises.
And even if you end up thinking HYROS sucks, just ask for a refund within 90 days and move on.
I hate to admit it but Becker has evolved from a typical online marketer to an inspiring CEO who genuinely seems to want to build an awesome, customer-focused company.
Here’s the problem:
Because of his early marketing efforts, Alex still has a few online haters calling him a ripoff and scam artist.
But in my experience, the vast majority of haters are usually victim-minded twits who blame everyone else for their problems and sh*tty lives.
So whether you buy anything from Becker or not, here’s the most important advice I can give you:
Don’t be one of those people, Broski.
Whatever you decide to invest in — ad tracking, SEO, ecommerce, podcasting, whatever — give it err’thing ya got, take failures on the chin, and see what happens when you stick with just one idea.
You might be surprised.
